Breeding is a fun but it needs some experiences.
There are many good breeders from the world such as Japan ,U.S. ,France , Germany, Netherlands ,C.Z. and more ...
you can get more information from Internet and Breeding Books , or you can talk with these experienced breeders and you will learn a lesson . that is very Easy !
Now ,We offer some good website and it contains some useful information and good photo . Just visit it !!!

Family scarabaeidae

1.Many breeders always ask us how to use
Fungi
Bottle ( Kinshi
Bottle) ?
in fact ,it is very easy . breeders only need to dig a bigger hole on the Fungi Bottle ,then put L2 Lucanidae larva (such as Dorcus , Prosopocoilus , Hexarthrius ,Lamprima ,Rhaetulus ,Phalacrognathus muelleri ,Mesopotus tarandus , etc. ) into the Fungi Bottle. Good Job! larva will enjoy it and you will see larva grow up fast from Fungi Bottle outside .
Besides, one more Question,Can we use Fungi Bottle for Dynastes ,Megasoma, or flowers beetles larva ?the answer is Yes ,but Not All....you can put some pieces of Fungi into the substrate (5%~10%) .larva will feed on it .if you offer larva All Fungi without any substrate , larva can't stand this environment and dead .
2.Where we can get these substrate for Dynastes and Megasoma larva?
Going to the
mountain or park is a fast way ,because you can get natural decayed wood flake
and decayed leaves in the mountain or in the park .another easy way is Go to
your local gardening shop to ask them ,if they may offer some
organic substrate (compost)
, No any
chemical be added , Besides ,you can add some
extra decayed wood flake and decayed leaves in this substrate for rearing
larva and let female lay eggs .in fact , female is easy to lay eggs in any
substrate . dynastidae larvae and flowers beetles larvae is very easy to breed
because they only need mixture of organic substrate , decayed wood flake and
decayed leaves . larvae accept all most substrate . you can get it from wild
nature or your park . there are many falling-down(deciduous)( hardwood) tree and
it is easy to get decayed leaves and decayed wood .about rearing Lucanidae
larvae, it is a little hard ...
it need about 80% decayed wood flake .., not decayed leaves and organic
substrate .
you can try it , you will get fun .
3.Important information : Culturing rhinoceros and stag beetles larvae requires decayed vegetation derived from hardwood trees (hardwood trees have non-needle-like leaves) Decayed vegetation derived from coniferous trees, such as pine and cedar ,cannot used. Some good examples of the former are oak ,maple, hickory ,ash, poplar ,willow etc.
4. These species of
larvae is named Dynastinae (Rhinoceros Beetles ) and flower beetles .
Dynastes hercules lichyi
is similar
as Dynastes neptunus
, Chalcosoma caucasus , Xylotrupes
gideon, Dynastes tityus ,Megasoma elephas elephas
and Megasoma actaeon
. Jumnos ruckeri
,Mecynorhina torquata ugandensis
and Eudicella euthalia euthalia
( flower beetle )
all these larvae feed decayed wood flake (dark color ) and decayed wood leaves (
Mixed) .
you also can get some organic decayed coconut substrate
to mix these substrate .
it look like Black and dark color and that is all good compost (Mat
)(humus) for these larvae . you can try it .
================================================================================================
Lucanidae(stag beetles)larvae is the similar species as Phalacrognathus muelleri
, Dorcus titanus etc..
these larvae feed decayed wood flake ( white , light color ) and Kinshi bottles
.
larvae will grow up soon if they feed Kinshi bottles . you can see that fast
growth process .
==============================================================================================
After We used these substrate( white , light color ) for stag beetles
larvae , then these used substrate look like Black and dark color , it is very
good for Dynastinae (Rhinoceros Beetle ) and flower beetle larvae . many
breeders don't know that ....
So , Don't waste it . you can recycle it for Dynastinae (Rhinoceros Beetle ) and
flower beetle larvae .(mixed )
that is very good compost (humus) .
In wild nature , you can get wild
Allomyrina dichotomus
larvae from very old tree holes , there are many Black , dark color of decayed
wood flake and decayed leaves inside . in fact , white , light color of decayed
wood flake will ferment to become more dark , black about 6 ~12 months later .
you can observe it . (it is a kind of ferment process from
white ,light color to Black ,dark , brown color )
it is the same as wild nature . stag beetle larvae feed white , light color of
decayed wood flake .
then Dynastinae (Rhinoceros Beetles ) and flower beetles larvae feed Black ,dark
,brown color of
decayed wood flake
.
Just try it . it is a Fun !
4.How to take care of Fresh Beetles ?
Fresh beetles need some time ( about 3weeks ~5
weeks ,even longer time ) to take a break ( hibernation
) (Sleep) .
Don't touch them or play them during this time . Or it
will be a short life !
After hibernation , beetles will be active . and beetles can be alive for
longer time .
When beetles become very active , you can start to feed them and breed .
5.Lucanidae(stag beetles) Breeding ( you can see that decayed wood flake is white , light color )
5. Dynastidae(Rhinoceros beetles)Breeding ( you can see that decayed wood flake is Black , Dark , Brown color )
6. How to make Substrate for larvae & female lay eggs
How to make Substrate of Dynastidae The sawdust 20 liters of an old tree are put in the machine. Beetle larva's excrement is put in 3-5 liter. Beetle larva's excrement has a very good bacteria. It is fermented by using the bacteria. And, the additive is put. The protein uses the additive of about 60% for me. In this case, the additive is 100ml or less. Dynastidae doesn't put a lot of additives. Flour and soybean flour, etc. can be easily bought. The protein of flour is about 3%. Soybean flour is about 10%. A lot of carbohydrates, lipids, and fibered, etc. are contained. These are elements without the necessity. Water is put in by four liters in the state with dry sawdust. The amount of water is adjusted according to the volume of water of sawdust. Substrate will be completed in five days.
Substrate becomes the color of the chocolate. And, the amount decreases by fermentation. How to make substrate of Lucanidae larva All Lucanidae can never be used. Lucanidae changes substrate by the kind because it has a great choice. Generally, the food of Lucanidae larva uses the sawdust of fresh wood. When the sawdust of fresh wood is used, it takes complete time. In the particle of sawdust, the small size is good. The additive puts 200ml. It will complete it in two weeks. Because the dead leaf doesn't have nourishment, it doesn't use it. A good state continues long when the dead leaf is mixed with substrate to lay eggs. However, the larva doesn't think that it grows up in the dead leaf.
Enjoy Breeding !
